The TDC has launched a summer advertising campaign with FOX 49 TV in Tallahassee to promote day trips from the Tallahassee area to Jackson County.
Titled "Know Your Neighbor", this 60 second TV ad will run 60 times per month for three months between the hours of 8:00am and 11:00pm on FOX 49 beginning on June 2nd.
The goal of the campaign is to encourage citizens living in Tallahassee to take advantage of summer gas price increases by promoting day trips from neighboring markets that are more affordable than the usual long summer vacations. Tourism research indicates more people are canceling long driving trips and instead are opting for shorter distance trips that are within two hours.
Jackson County has an abundance of tourism assets, from Civil War sites to historic homes, to state parks to recreational areas like Blue Springs.
A continuous advertising campaign over the entire summer will reach approximately 250,000 households, and generate multiple impressions with viewers. "The more times they see the ad, the more likely they are to act on the message in the ad", says Art Kimbrough, Jackson County Chamber CEO and administrator for the TDC.
Tourism for Jackson County means increased local revenues as well as tax receipts. People from neighboring communities come, visit, enjoy their stay, and leave lots of money in the process. They also generate word of mouth recommendations that generate more activity.
