The Jackson County Fair Comes to Town

Monday, October 6th, kicked off the annual Jackson County Fair. This year the fair boasts many informative booths set up by various local organizations and businesses. Such booths included the Marianna Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Marianna Toyota also had a variety of different quality vehicles on display for those interested in seeing the new models without having to go to the showroom in town. Winners of the various competitions varying from quilting to paintings were displayed as well.
Also setting up shop were informative booths for both 2008 Presidential candidates- McCain and Obama. These booths offered visitors information on the candidates while also offering them ways to show their support in the forms of stickers, pencils and bumper stickers. With this much attention being brought to this year’s election, everyone should be registered to vote by now.
As expected of any fair, the rides are up and running. This event offers tamer rides for the younger tykes and more "grown-up" rides for those who are ready to brave the scarier ones. Carnival games with bright lights flashing to entice visitors with chances to win prizes of all sorts for their children or that special "someone".
All of these things make the fair fun for those who are young or just young at heart. It will continue to run through Saturday, October 11th. Be sure you and your family have the chance to attend the 2008 Jackson County Fair for a night of good family fun.
