Second Skeleton Found In Jackson County

On April 14, 2010 shortly after noon, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting that an individual had discovered what appears to be human skeletal remains in an area south of Pike Pond Road in Southwest Jackson County. An individual was walking his dog when the dog became distracted and entered a wooded area. When the owner of the dog went into the woods to retrieve his dog he discovered the skeletal remains.

The sex, manner and cause of death has yet to be determined. The area has been secured by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office awaiting the arrival of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Scene Unit and Investigators from the Medical Examiners Office in Bay County, Florida. The scene was being processed on Friday morning April 16.

The skeletal remains appeared to have been in the wooded area for several years.
