She is especially proud of the level of professional service that she and her staff have been able to provide to the citizens of the county. "Without the support of an efficient and friendly staff the job would be impossible", she states.
Sharon was born and raised in the Lovedale-Two Egg community of Jackson County.
Her parents are Elizabeth and J. E. McCord of Lovedale. She graduated from Malone High School and then attended Chipola College. Sharon is married to Alfred Cox, they have five children and three grandchildren. They are members of the Lovedale Baptist Church.
She started working in the Property Appraisers office in 1988, and worked as a member of the Appraiser’s support team for sixteen years. Then, in 2004 she ran for the position of Property Appraiser and was elected.
"We try to help the property owners of the county as much as possible, while staying within the legal boundaries that govern our office", Cox explains. "My daily motto is ‘Look For Ways To Help People’. This job is very complex and having extensive experience is crucial. This is why I feel that the twenty years of time I have spent working in this office has enabled me to properly serve our citizens", Cox continues.
